Apresentation by Elisabeth Churchill , Principal Research Scientist at Yahoo, demonstrates the use of Flickr users' privacy settings. On the map, the red dots indicate a greater propensity to keep photos private, while the green ones indicate a greater propensity to make them public. It is very interesting to note the contrast between the inhabitants of the United States (but also of the Middle East) who are generally inclined to publicize their shots, and old Europe (like India) which tends to protect them, with Italy moving against the trend . It's a shame that the map doesn't tell us anything about the reason for these behaviors: do they have to do with a correct or incorrect perception of the public space of the internet?
What is the impact of the country's unique Brazil Phone Number privacy culture on uploading photos to Flickr? Or do we have to trace everything back to a different use of the instrument? The landscape of graphical data analysis services now seems mature. Today, Trendrr is added to the pioneers Many Eyes and Swivel . Its peculiarity is that of being able to create graphs not only from a series of data entered manually, but automatically from various predefined sources e.g.: search engine results, information present on social networks or on sites that nevertheless expose them ( number of sales of a certain product on Amazon, number of job ads on Monster, Netcraft statistics, etc.).
The great thing is that each of these data can be compared with others through a simple drag and drop into the box called "scratch pad". As an example, I tried to create a graph that compared the trend in the number of news stories related to Facebook with the number of posts on the same topic. The result is that while the number of news stories is increasing, the number of posts has undergone a significant decrease. Unfortunately, the embeddable graph is not dynamic, so you will have to click to understand its temporal trend. Finally, since Trendrr is also a social network, add me as a friend if you like
